My New Magical Camera.

I’m excited to share that I’m finally learning to use my new Nikon camera. After over a decade of being a Canon user, this transition feels big.

This Nikon has a special history: it originally belonged to my best friend’s Mom, Dee, and then to my best friend, Mariah.

When Dee passed away, Mariah inherited her cameras. Dee and Mariah shared a passion for photography and even photographed weddings together. Dee won an award for a photo she took of the Tobacco Root Mountains in Montana. With a degree in geology, Dee especially loved capturing images of mountains. She also enjoyed taking photos of flowers and puppies. Mariah jokes that her Mom took at least a million photos of flowers! Dee was particularly fond of Nikon cameras and had hoped to take her new camera to Costa Rica, one of her favorite places, though she never got the chance.

Every time I photograph something beautiful with my new Nikon, I think of Dee and Mariah. I know this camera carries extra magic because of them. I can’t wait to share more images with you. Here are a few pictures from Oceanside that I took this week.
